Five people injured in suspected DUII crash
PORTLAND, Ore. – Police believe alcohol was a factor in a three-car crash in Southeast Portland Friday night.
Five people were taken to hospitals after the crash at 136th Avenue and Southeast Division Street. It happened at around 7:30 p.m.
Police said one car rear-ended another, which then hit a third car. None of the injuries was life-threatening.
No arrests have been made.
What I find distressing about this is that IF alcohol was the cause...someone was drunk REALLY early! Â 7:30 pm?! Â I also am disgusted by reading how many people have repeated DUI offenses. Â I thought in some states when you have repeated DUI offenses you lose your CAR not only your license. Â In many other countries you do not see 3, 4 or more DUI offenses. Â Because they take this seriously. Â WE do not until someone dies.
So, ban cars or control who drives? Â Ban alcohol or control alcohol? Â Because criminals are going to drive and get alcohol, so why have any control at all? Â It's not fair to law abiding citizens.
Ban Cars! Ban Booze! Ban people! Ban Roads! (What the hell?., we're on a 'BAN" mode)
We need to have background checks on people before they're allowed to have such a lethal thing at their disposal. That would have kept this from happening, I'm sure.
It's not their fault; they have a REAL "DISEASE" (like diabetes & cancer).. they need to convert to the 12-Step religious AA/NA cult & conjure up their make-believe "HIGHER POWER" so it can sprinkle its One-Day-At-A-Time Magic Dust on them to make everything all better....

Everyone in todays day and age knows that driving drunk is wrong, so if someone gets into an accident doing it they should be charged with at least attempted manslaughter.

Since this crash occurred last night at 7:30 PM, and was covered during the nightly newscasts, one would think a bit more information would be available by now.
 @jpk A lot of stations don't have many people working on stories on their web sites from about Friday early evening until sometime Monday.

Apparently their webmaster is also out to lunch at times. Yesterday it took over 45 minutes from my email to him/her to let them know a story "could not be found"! And I'm sure I wasn't the only one to let them know about the story with the ghost riding along with the bicyclist!Â
