Former Portland cop pleads guilty to child pornography charge

PORTLAND, Ore. – A former Portland police officer who used to register sex offenders has pleaded guilty to one count of receipt of child pornography.
Scott Elliott, 50, entered the plea in federal court. Under the plea agreement, Elliott is expected to face at least five years in prison. He will also have to register as a sex offender himself when he’s released.
According to court documents, Elliott admitted that in Sept. 2009, he used the online screen name “malewantsu2004” and received at least nine images of child pornography from someone with the screen name “doraexplora111.”
A forensic examiner looked at Elliott’s computer and found images of children under the age of 18 in sexual acts, documents said.
One charge of luring a minor was dismissed under the plea agreement.
Elliott’s admission in his federal case does not apply to his case in state court, according to the plea agreement. He could face consecutive sentences.
Elliott is scheduled to be sentenced in February.
Dirty police state terrorist...
The attraction some guys have toward kids is way beyond me. I require a woman and to be a grown-up.
@Mechanic It's a sickness, Mechanic, one for which our limited medical and/or psychological science has no cure. I don't think anyone in their "right mind" would consciously chose to harm a child, but unfortunately, there are a lot of people who are simply not in their right mind.
Â
Then there are those who do such things purely for profit. These are the worst of the worst...even more so than the actual pedophiles as they profit from such activities and act as enablers. These people (hesitate to use that word) are the real ones who should be hunted down without mercy and eliminated.

@Mikey Absolutely 100% correct!! I had to take a paramedic to jail for videotaping himself and his five year old daughter doing stuff that I could no longer watch - Probable Cause was no longer an issue. What really PO'd me was that I worked with this guy and he pitched-a-bitch against me for not doing a 72 hour hold on some lady weeks before - I guess he was hoping for a free ride and never said a word all the way to jail...
Never fear, either Sam Adams or the policeman's union will rehire him. Wouldn't shock me.
He'll get out in 5 years and live a life of luxury with his 100% tax-free police MENTAL disability pension....he filed BEFORE conviction and COPS ARE NEVER TURNED DOWN for disability pensions!
I've never understood why they have to register themselves when they get release, why aren't they automatically registered as sex offenders?
@Jamie They move to a different city, or state where the pickings are new and there is no real communication between jurisdictions because of ego's as it has always been...
Well, he's just not a very nice man.
Â
Maybe he's a Wissen (or WiÃen).
On Grimm they spell it Wisen, but in German that wouldn't be pronounced "Viss-en" but "Vise-en".
Â
Maybe he's a Böseskindmissbrauchentier or a Böseskindwehschwein. Very bad. :-P
@Mikey Skel, or prevert works for me since I have forgotten my German after 37 years - Wie gehts??
Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
 @FrackWit Exactly.
That psychological profiling the PDX cop shop uses really works, doesn't it? Just another case in point. I am sure this perverted freak will get true justice once he becomes part of the prison's general population.
He looks like a sick pervert! Hope he gets a lengthy sentence, hopefully in Cellblock FF, with a cellmate that he had incarcerated.
Totally disgusting... no other word for it...
a pedo AND a cop?....oh, he's gonna have fun in the joint.
Ok, KATU, so in the headline you had to exploit the fact that he is a former Portland police officer, yet in the body of the story there is NO MENTION of when he held that title. Â Was this a year ago? Â 5 years ago? 20 years ago? Sworn officer or non-sworn? Â Seems like using "Portland Police Officer" in a headline is more a tool to get page clicks than helping us understand the story more. Â If it's relevant to the story then by all means, go ahead, but if it's not, it's irresponsible reporting. Â The RTNDA would be ashamed.

"The federal government is accusing Elliott, a 22-year veteran with the Portland police, of receiving child pornographic images in September 2009. In addition, the indictment alleges that Elliott used the Internet between September 2010 and June 2011 to "attempt to persuade, induce, entice or coerce a person whom he believed to be a minor ... to engage in unlawful sexual activity."
Â
"Elliott resigned his position with police last May. He was most recently assigned to East Precinct's afternoon relief patrol. He was one of a number of officers assigned at East Precinct to help register sex offenders, part of the bureau's Sex Offender Registration Detail. He also had worked as a firearms instructor for police cadets in the past, and had trained officers in the use of less-lethal weapons."

@scared_citizen See, that's all I ask of the media when reporting on the story.  That's a lot of facts that were left out of this version.  Interesting that we have to go to the newspapers that were considered obsolete.

So you're suggesting that KATU is something like WIKIPEDIA incomplete and inaccurate but a good place to start your research.
