Former kitchen manager charged in Pal Shanty's fire

The former kitchen manager at Pal Shanty's is under arrest charged with intentionally setting the fire that burned the tavern alst year.

Fire officials tell KATU that Marcus Tyler had set the fire to cover up an attempted burglary.

They believe he burned himself in the process and was only arrested after being released from the hospital.

They say a friend of his, Michael Duncan, was in on it and also injured.

He has also been charged, according to the Fire Bureau.

The fire started around 1:30 a.m. on Nov. 15 last year.

They are both charged with arson, burglary and criminal mischief.
