Logan Storm.

In a process to extradite him back to Oregon, a former Beaverton teacher convicted of child pornography who fled the country was transported to Houston on Thursday.

Logan Storm has been booked in Houston's Harris County Jail after he was captured in Mexico. The process to bring him to Oregon will now begin, a U.S. Marshals Service spokesman said Thursday afternoon.

It's not clear how long that process will take.

Storm, who was a teacher at Stoller Middle School, was convicted of possessing child pornography.

Storm's attorneys were still trying to get in touch with him as recently as late Thursday morning.

At first, federal authorities wouldn't even confirm Storm was in custody in Mexico partly because they say he denied being the man they were after.

The U.S. Marshals Service now says marshals found Storm in Mexico City on March 12 but nailing down Storm's identity held up extraditing him back to the United States.

According to the Mexican Consulate in Portland, a judge in Mexico would require pretty much what a U.S. judge would require to identify someone and release them for extradition: documentation, fingerprints and even a photograph of the person in question.

Still unanswered is how Storm got to Mexico and if he had any help while on the run.

A judge let Storm go free until his sentencing in April even though he had taken off once before to Europe. On the night of Jan. 29 or Jan. 30, investigators said he cut off his electronic monitoring bracelet and left it in a park in Troutdale hours after he was found guilty.

In mid-February, U.S. Marshals found his silver Volkswagen Jetta in Los Angeles. The Oregon license plate had been removed.

Storm had hundreds of pornographic images and videos of toddlers and young girls on his computer equipment, according to the U.S attorney.

When investigators found the porn months ago, they said Storm fled to London where he hid out for nine months.
