Many districts cancel classes as freezing fog makes driving treacherous

PORTLAND, Ore. – Freezing fog overnight made roads, parking lots and other surfaces quite slick Wednesday morning.

Portland Public Schools decided at 8:45 a.m. to cancel classes all day, joining Vancouver, Evergreen and several other districts. Many others were delayed for two hours.

Here’s an up-to-date list of closures and delays.

Several accidents had occurred on I-5, I-205 and elsewhere by 6 a.m., with most of the problems occurring in Clark County.

Low visibility from the fog only added to the treacherous conditions.

Visibility was limited to a quarter-mile between Portland and Vancouver.
