Group of teens steals $1,000 worth of jeans in 'flash rob'
PORTLAND, Ore. – Police said a group of teenagers stole around $1,000 worth of jeans from the Macy’s store at Lloyd Center Mall in a so-called “flash rob.”
Store security guards told police a group of five or six boys and girls in their teens came into the Macy’s store and simply grabbed several pairs of Levi’s brand jeans, according to police spokesman Sgt. Pete Simpson.
The thieves then fled into the mall and ran out through the Sears store at the east side of the building. Somebody driving a silver SUV with Texas plates picked them up and drove off down Broadway, Simpson said.
Simpson said officers plan to release surveillance images at some point. Right now the only descriptions police gave were that the suspects are black and there were boys and girls in the group.

The police shouldn't give out the race of the suspects because that would be racist and oppressive (unless the suspects are white than it would be okay).
These "youths" and "teens" are just responding to historical wrongs -- the jeans they steal are made of cotton, and it's like "reparations".
Hopefully Macy's installed high resolution cameras. I am tired of seeing very poor cheap cameras used for security and one cannot even identify a person. It really doesn't cost that much more when you are allotting money for a camera system.
If and when they catch them, please ship them to Liberia.
Why do these poor misguided youfs continue to commit these crimes? Because nothing happens to them as a result of their lawlessness. Have the people of Portland no spines? Some of these apologist comments make me sick.

First off KATU you needs to quit giving crimes like this hip names. Call it for what it really is, a gang of teenagers stole jeans from Macy's. Texas license plates are the most common plates, when there are plates, in thefts from where I work. Our LPS and LE have determined that these gangs travel the I-5 corridor and it is almost exclusively blacks and hispanics doing it. I'm not being racist, I'm stating what I experience on a regular basis. Periodically we deal with Russian or gypsy gangs too, but usually they appear in cycles and hit the area like locusts
Not about race, but about responsibility. Of the six mentioned, what percentage of them have both paternal parents, still married to each other, and married at the time of their kids birth, and both living at home with their kid? With today's societal decay (masquerading as the norm) I'd wager less than 50% of this group. I believe those stats are the main, if not the only reason for this behavior.
I don't care what race they are, they need to be caught and punished severely. Throw 'em in with some hardcore criminals and let them give 'em a good scare. Maybe they'll wise up.

I joined because I read a story about the strong-arm robbery of hundreds of dollars in merchandise, and in the comments section, some simple-minded people seem to think that the greatest crime is making some racist but factual statements. Someone who steals 20 pairs of jeans is a "product of his environment;" yet someone who simply says, "That's typical," is an EVIL, HORRIBLE, WHITE-SUPREMACIST RACIST!

But in this case I don't think it helps because even when caught they are doing anything to them. So why bother.
