Gunshots hit North Portland home
PORTLAND, Ore. - A flurry of gunshots were fired in a North Portland neighborhood late Monday night.
The shooting happened just before midnight in the 4600 block of North Fessenden Street.
When officers arrived, witnesses told them they had heard gunshots fired from a parking lot behind a home. No one was hit by the gunfire but police did find that some shots had hit a home where eight people, including three children, were inside.
The shooting followed some type of disturbance in the parking lot, investigators learned. No arrests have been made but the Portland Police Bureau's Gang Enforcement Team is looking into what happened. At this point, the only suspect description they have is that the shooter was a black male.
Anyone with information that can help investigators is asked to call police.

North Portland...........where violence is an everyday occurrence.
So if the assumption is that the likely scenario here is that some sort of exchange of gunfire took place between gang members using illegally obtained weapons, how typically does that gun make it's way from the factory where it's made to ending up in a gangbanger's hand?

The solution is to have severe penalties for carrying illegal guns or guns in the hands of those who are precluded by law to have possession of a gun.
I find it interesting that the gun control crowd  really never makes a big  stink about gun laws when its just gang violence.  I guess there's not the political hay to be made from gang violence as opposed to  school or mall shootings.Â

That is frightening! I'm so glad no one was hurt. I hope law enforcement can quickly apprehend those responsible and take them off the streets. These types of incidents are so infuriating.
I would like to hear how stricter gun laws for law abiding citizens would have  prevented this.....
I wonder if the shooter purchased the gun legally and went through all of the CWP classes and was legally carrying?

Don't count on it. There isn't enough politicians that will sign on to any gun restriction laws if they want to get reelected. The southern Democrats have made it real clear not to even bring it up because they will vote against it.

Plus there are thousands of guns being sold every day for the last week. Every time politicians talk about more gun laws people go out and buy more guns. I intend to do just that after the first of the year.
Since law enforcement cannot protect all of us proactively, and are only able to take action of some sort AFTER the fact, it is probably safer to be able to protect ourselves at the time of the incident.
