MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – Bruce and Esther Huffman celebrated their one-year anniversary with a cake Tuesday – not for being married – but for the Internet video that made them famous.
The Huffmans were caught on a web camera they didn't realize was recording. When a relative posted it on YouTube they turned into instant Internet stars.
That senior moment set them up for a year's worth of fame, and they've enjoyed every minute of it since.
The couple is still getting requests from all over the world and a local company contacted them last month to be involved in their campaign.
The Huffmans' 15 minutes of fame actually lasted 12 months. From the East Coast to local appearances on KATU's AM Northwest, they've got a binder full of memories that includes a picture with former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.
They've been the grand marshals of two parades and have signed autographs with strangers all over. But they haven't let it go to their heads.
"I know it's changed me. I don't know if it's changed Bruce for the worst or not," Esther says laughing.
They're just humbled the Happy Huffmans can still make people smile.
"Otherwise it's just kind of a silly video," says Esther. "I mean, come on – It did make people laugh and that's nice. I think laughter, everybody knows that laughter is good medicine."
The Huffmans did make some money and, yes, they're still posting other funny videos on YouTube. They're also hoping to reach out to others, including retirement centers. But they say this is one of the best things that have happened to them.

Enough with this old couple, already! Their stupid video wasn't that funny in the first place. Give it a rest, KATU!
Every time I see this video I grin! I love how they were unaware and to hear them talk even when he tried to get a lil frisky with his wife. I am glad to hear they are well. Here's to many more years of them being together!
Oh, I LOVE that there was an update to this story, so we can watch that video all over again and howl with laughter. Reminds me of my dearly departed parents, and a sweet memory that is.
@whirledworld ......always great to be reminded of our folks.
Keep having fun with it kids. Great video....great story.
