PORTLAND, Ore. – A man was killed and a woman was injured in a head-on crash on Cornelius Pass Road near Skyline Boulevard Tuesday afternoon, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's deputies say alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.

Deputies said Neil T. Schneider, 45, of Scappoose, Ore. was killed in the collision. They said his car appeared to have crossed the center line.

A woman in the other car, 42-year-old Janie Edwards of Hillsboro, was injured. She had to be cut out of her car. She was taken to the hospital. Edwards is expected to recover from her injuries.

The crash happened just before 3 p.m. and closed Cornelius Pass Road between Skyline and Kaiser to traffic. The road reopened at 7:45 p.m.

Witnesses told deputies Schneider was driving erratically before the crash. The sheriff's office said Schneider may have been drinking.
