High winds, plenty of rain in the forecast

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Forecasters say a series of storms will hit the Oregon coast with high winds the next couple of days and spread rain across the region.

The National Weather Service says residents on the coast should prepare for 50 mph to 60 mph gusts Wednesday evening, increasing to gusts of 50 mph to 70 mph into Thursday morning. Inland winds of 15 mph to 25 mph are expected Wednesday afternoon with gust of 35 mph to 45 mph into Thursday morning.

Forecasters say another 1-to-2 inches of rain will fall over the region by Thursday evening with 3-to-4 inches in some areas of the coast range and Cascades. But at this time, no river flooding is expected.

Rain and melting snow could cause flooding on creeks and streams in eastern Oregon.
