Homes evacuated while crews repair broken gas line
PORTLAND, Ore. – Firefighters evacuated several homes near a broken gas line in North Portland Monday morning.
Portland Fire and Rescue spokesman Rich Chatman said a piece of equipment broke the one-inch natural gas line near North Willamette Boulevard and Polk Avenue. Crews with Northwest Natural Gas arrived at the scene to fix the line.
Firefighters were called to the area just after 8:30 a.m.
No one was hurt.
Residents were allowed to return to their homes just before 9:30 a.m.
Thank goodness for the stinky smell to alert people.Â
