McAfee pops up in Portland, says he is going to stay
PORTLAND, Ore. - Software pioneer John McAfee is now living in Portland.
Our news partners at Willamette Week sat down with him at a Southeast Portland coffee shop this week.
McAfee, the creator of an anti-virus program named after him, said he plans to live in Portland for the next year and a half while he collaborates with a local artist on a graphic novel about his life.
"I've had enough sun for awhile," said McAfee. "I had five years, every day, sunny."
McAfee sold his stake in the anti-virus software company that is named for him in the early 1990s and moved to Belize about three years ago to lower his taxes.
But when his neighbor was murdered and he became a person of interest in the case, he fled to Guatemala where he was caught and forced to return to the United States.
McAfee contends that he had nothing to do with the murder and says the government in Belize is corrupt and out to get him.
He spent weeks in hiding, but still blogged about his whereabouts, taunting investigators who were on his trail. McAfee even hired a body double to fly to Mexico from Asia to try and throw them off.
When he was caught in Guatemala, McAfee faked a heart attack to give his lawyer time to stop his deportation to Belize.

I think he is LYING about something... Who thinks to fake a heart attack when being chased for murder. I'm sharp,but, I wouldn't have even considered the idea UNLESS I were GUILTY! The only reason he's here is because Intel purchased McAfee...they're providing him with a place to "hide". And from the looks of his skin...he better stay out of the sun permanently. Moron.

McAfee, like many men over 60  who visit certain chat rooms..knows Portland is a hub for easy underage female prostitution.. Portland is KNOWN for it nationwide.That is why taxpayers foot the bill for the FBI to clean it up somewhat every 2 years. Don't think a few FBI located in PDX use them too. Yeah, keep portland weird..keep it degenerate.Â

Its okay if he comes to Portland...However. Is he going to give back to our community and embrace our cool culture? And more importantly will he stay normal in our cloudy overcast terrarium living? It takes fortitude...None of which he seems to have maintained or displayed on his constant search for self validation. I mean, give up the delusion and become a true man. You have money. Be strong and give back. You didn't get rich on your own.
