Judge: Boy competent to stand trial for attempted murder

VANCOUVER, Wash. – The 12-year-old boy accused of bringing a gun and hundreds of rounds of ammunition to his Vancouver middle school has been found competent to stand trial.

Investigators said the boy planned to shoot a student who he said was bullying his friend.

They said he brought a gun, knives and 400 rounds of ammunition to Frontier Middle School in October.

He faces charges of attempted murder.

He will be back in court on Dec. 24 to set a trial date.
