PORTLAND, Ore. - A judge decided Monday that an 11-year-old boy accused of threatening a woman and her child on the MAX last week will live with his aunt and wear an electronic monitoring device.

The boy is the brother of murder victim Yashanee Vaughn who was just 14 when she was killed last year.

Last Thursday a woman said the boy flashed a gun at her while they were on a MAX train after she complained he'd bumped into her baby stroller.

The 11-year-old's mother, Shaquita Louis, told the judge they need help dealing with the grief after Yashanee was killed.

"We both have a lot of issues. We both need grief counseling," Louis said.

As she and her son wiped away tears, she said "It would be nice if he could come home and do it together."

She also told the judge she can't provide as much structure for her son as an aunt could.

KATU News is not identifying the boy because he is a minor; however, on his Facebook page, he calls himself, "Lil' Nasty."

The state is certifying the boy's aunt as a foster parent. The DHS said it will start helping Louis and her son with counseling.
