PORTLAND, Ore. – KATU.com received an Edward R. Murrow award as the top large-market TV station website in the region on Tuesday.
The award was based on a sampling of the homepage, as well as four submitted stories:
- What doomed Cover Oregon? ‘Mismanagement,’ say former employees
- Fallen followers: Investigation finds 10 more dead children of faith healers
- Every second counts: Fire depts. struggle with slow response times
- Salem uses fluoridation chemical that Portland’s hotly debating
The submissions were designed to demonstrate KATU’s commitment to investigative journalism, as well as strong content generated from close cooperation between broadcast and online staff.
The regional award covers Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho and Alaska.
KATU will compete with the 13 other regional winners for the national award, which is handed out by The Radio Television Digital News Association.
