PORTLAND, Ore. - They already struggle with a tight budget, but now coaches, parents and players are trying to figure out how to replace a $1,500 piece of stolen equipment.

Someone stole a John Deere Gator ATV used by the baseball team at Madison High School in Portland late Friday night or early Saturday morning.

Coaches use the ATV to mow the grass and rake the infield, a job they say would take too long with smaller equipment.

Neighbors like Melinda Patterson couldn't believe someone would steal from a school.

"That's horrible. Sometimes I think the amount of time people spend figuring out how to do something like this could be better spent trying to figure out how to do something productive," Melinda Patterson said.

Police canvased the area but don't have much to go on. Now coaches are asking the public to keep an eye out for the missing ATV.
