Kitzhaber appoints new head of Ore. National Guard
SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Gov. John Kitzhaber has appointed a new head of the Oregon National Guard.
Kitzhaber said Wednesday that Brigadier General Daniel Hokanson we be the next adjutant general.
Hokanson is a 1986 graduate from the U.S. Military Academy and served on active duty before joining the Oregon National Guard. He has served in Iraq and Afghanistan and commanded nearly 100 air-rescue and firefighting missions throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Hokanson is currently the director of strategic plans and policy for the National Guard Bureau at the Pentagon.
Reese is a good man and I'm sorry to see him go. He has some big shoes to fill, but General Hokanson inherits a fine organization with the Oregon National Guard.
I've met him in the course of the business day, and I'm sure he'll do a fine job.
 Sorry to see Raymond Rees go. He was an excellent soldier.

 @Bdou The guy's a brigadier general, has an exemplary record and has devoted his adult life to the military and service to our country and you make a lame insult about his political affiliation (without having a clue what that is)?  Do you make those remarks about other active and/or retired military members?  Are YOU a vet?  Do you see how petty your comment makes YOU look?

General Reese is leaving? It may be time for him to retire, he has been around a long time. He has done a good job also

Except that the guy he pardoned was just a murderer. Now if he was a conservative Kitzhaber would have no problem killing him.
