Lake Oswego assist. football coach accused of punching player, arrested

LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. – Police arrested a Lakeridge High School assistant football coach Tuesday after they say he punched a 17-year-old player in the face during practice.

Police said 28-year-old Michael Cole hit the boy as other players were trying to break up a fight between the boy and another player just after 7:30 p.m.

The team’s defensive coordinator pulled Cole off the boy, police said. Cole was asked to leave, which he did.

According to police, the 17-year-old suffered minor injuries and didn’t need medical attention.

Police arrested Cole for fourth-degree assault and second-degree disorderly conduct.

He was taken to the Clackamas County Jail but was released after he posted bail.

Police said additional charges could be filed later.
