Leukemia patient, 7, get surprise visit from Santa
BEAVERTON, Ore. – A little girl with leukemia will get to see Santa after all this Christmas, thanks to a generous effort from the community.
Abi Zoske was just released from the hospital last weekend, after she missed the summer, fall and Thanksgiving.
Abi couldn’t go see Santa because she’s on drugs that suppress her immune system.
“She hasn’t been able to go out and play like most 7-year-olds can,” said Abi’s father Fred Zoske. “She’s been stuck at the house. She has to wear a mask if she goes anywhere.”
Saturday, Santa came to see Abi on a 90-year-old fire truck. A member of the community, Dee Manser, organized the Christmas surprise with help. Manser says someone surprised her and her daughter at Christmas 25 years ago. Now she gives back to another family every year.
“She’s 7 years old and she’s been facing death and she comes out of it with a smile on her face. That’s why Abi deserves this.”
