Man, 20, dies in two-car crash on Hwy 35

NEAR MOUNT HOOD, Ore. – A 20-year-old man from West Linn died in a two-car crash on Highway 35 Saturday afternoon.
State Police said Drake Aron Edwards was a passenger in a Subaru station wagon that was headed northbound on Highway 35 about two miles north of Highway 26 when the driver lost control of the car on the icy road and it slid into the southbound lane, where it was hit on the passenger side by another car.
A doctor and several members of the Mt. Hood Meadows ski patrol tried to revive Edwards, but he died at the scene, police said.
19-year-old Dayne M. Scanlon was driving the Subaru and Edwards’ twin brother, 20-year-old Warner Edwards, was a passenger. They were not hurt in the crash.
Police said all three were wearing seat belts.
The driver of the Ford Edge that hit the Subaru, 44-year-old Duncan McPhail or Portland, was not hurt in the crash. McPhail and an unidentified 40-year-old passenger were both wearing seat belts.
This is absolutely horrible. I'm a twin who grew up going to mount hood with my friends and family, and my twin brother is my best friend in the entire world. I feel so bad for the family, but especially the brother. All I can say is I'm so sorry, and I'm praying for the Edwards family.
So sorry. So many if's in an accident like this. Accidents are preventable but inevitable, especially with less desirable driving conditions.
@ritfam  One, or both drivers must have been moving at a decent clip to produce such damage.  Someone was over-driving the conditions.  When in doubt.. SLOW DOWN.
@ThePosterFormerlyKnownAsPhredE I wasn't surprised when I saw that accident - people were driving way too fast for the conditions.  Slow it down people.  Turn on some music, relax, enjoy the mountain scenery and live another day.
