OREGON CITY, Ore. – Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man who sped away from a traffic stop and led them on a car chase through Clackamas County Wednesday afternoon, the sheriff’s office said.
A deputy stopped the driver on Highway 213 just outside of Oregon City at around 12:30 p.m. for a minor traffic violation. That’s when deputies said the driver sped away. The chase continued on Highway 213 and onto Interstate 205.
The suspect took the Gladstone city exit and crashed his car into a fence. Deputies said he resisted arrest.
The driver, Jerry Lee Lake of Scotts Mills, was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Deputies said he’ll be arrested on reckless driving, felony attempt to elude and resisting arrested when he’s released from the hospital.
Lake also had a warrant for his arrest in Marion County.
