Suspect stabs boy during sex assault attempt in a Wendy's bathroom

PORTLAND, Ore. - A registered sex offender barricaded himself inside a Wendy's restaurant on Sunday after police say he grabbed a 10-year-old boy, pulled him into a restroom, tried to sexually assault the child and then stabbed the boy when he began fighting back.
The incident began around 2 p.m. at the Wendy's at Northeast 29th and Sandy Boulevard.
According to police, the suspect, 49-year-old Adam Lee Brown of Southwest Portland, was standing outside a restroom when the boy walked up to go to the bathroom.
Brown forced the boy inside, locked the door and attempted a sexual assault. The boy fought back and Brown pulled out a knife, stabbing him several times, police said.
The boy's father tried to open the door but had to get the manager to unlock it.
At that point, Brown opened the door, shoved the boy outside and then locked himself inside the restroom. Some people who were in the restaurant held the door shut until police arrived.
When officers got there and tried to talk to Brown, he claimed he had a gun and that's when crisis negotiators and SERT officers were called to the scene, Sgt. Pete Simpson with Portland Police said.
Police then cleared people out of the immediate area and shut down nearby roads. After a couple of hours of talking to crisis negotiators, Brown came out and surrendered to police without incident.
Police found a knife that they believe was used in the assault but they never found a gun.
The young victim was taken to a local hospital where he underwent surgery. He is now recovering from his injuries. He has not been identified.
Brown is facing charges of attempted murder, first-degree assault, first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree kidnapping, first-degree arson, coercion and furnishing false information to a police officer.
Brown, who is a registered sex offender, also had an outstanding warrant for a parole violation. He is due in court on Monday.
A note posted on entry doors and in the drive-through on Monday said the Wendy's location was closed for the day due to the incident.
A real "predator". He needs to be assigned to the appropriate cell mate. Make sure it is known he is a child molester. Problem solved.

 @Obongo Geddon Unfor, when he served his 11 years and after, he got his own private cell, private eating time, shower and so forth, and this was because people tried to take a stab at him, but since then he is "protected" in a sense

Most of the public knows that these predators can't be rehabilitated. When will the courts figure it out?

Big surprise! Sex offenders CANNOT be rehabilitated. Period! A 40 cent bullet would make sure this doesn't happen again.

Double tap. That is what I would have done. Would have been worth it. Protecting a child. There is a cry that any child makes, all parents coming running. This Mama Bear carries. I would have had no problem of it being used. I seriously hope that Dad makes sure the little boy gets some counciling. Poor little guy. I do not see my children using a public bathroom by themselves anytime soon for now. This piece of trash, should be charged with premeditation because he clearly had all this planned out as well. I hope he gets life since not only is this a measure 11 crime but he obiviously has other crimes. As much as I would like him put to death we know that will not happen.
Well clearly rehabilitation worked well for this guy. We really need to stop being so soft on sexual predators, it's an atrocity that our society allows them to reoffend repeatedly because we don't want to spend the money to reduce the problem and keep them off the streets.Â

Almost forgot in oregon there is no death penalty as long as the current governor is in office. this guy can't get the death penalty so just try him an put him in the state pen. he is already a dead man anyway when the prisoners get him for what he did. they hate child stabbers and child molesters even more. Hurry get him into prison! Put  him in a cell with a lifer who hates child molesters.
 @32jim2 Regardless of who's in office, this isn't a capital offense. So, he wouldn't ever get the death penalty for this crime. I'm mystified about how the charge of exposing children to HIV was dropped.Â

If this same loser singled out blacks to attack, it would be called a hate crime. If this same loser singled out Jews, Muslims or gays it would be called a hate crime. Why the heII isn't it a hate crime to single out little boys for sex? Don't children deserve equal justice? Or do you have to be black, Muslim or gay to get the politicians attention?  @randomdude well.... while I certainly agree that public execution would be fully acceptable. I cannot bring myself to agree with hanging or beheading. Both are far too quick, and not quite painful enough. This little boy will suffer the pain of this incident for the rest of his life. Why should his assaulter be granted the luxury of a swift and painless death?No, it should be something slow, and excruciating. Perhaps the Iron maiden.

The boys father disappionts me, If someone took my son and stabbed him, the police would be there to clean up a murder, people like  Adam Lee Brown dont deserve to walk the streets.

He was probably too busy attending to his wounded child to be concerned with revenge. I hope that my attention would be focused on getting my child medical attention. In addition, this would only lead to the parent facing the court system and what a horrible event to add to the trauma the boy already faced. Also, considering the man's HIV status, it's a good thing that no one else was exposed. What a tragedy for the family.

Believe me, I'd really, really have preferred to hear that the police located the pervert's knife immediately upon opening the restroom door...because it was buried to the hilt in his FOREHEAD!
But I am even more relieved to know that the father was taking care of his son.
@pdxjustice Wow, like you were there. What if the guy had a gun as he stated, you'd leave your kid without a father. That would be disappointing. take a moment and think about what will happen to this guy when he eventually goes into the general population in prison. End game.
If this were Texas, the father would be hailed as a hero for murdering the sicko that assaulted his child. (and rightfully so!). In Oregon, if that worthless chimo would have been killed by the father, the hand-holders here would have a candlelight vigil for him and perhaps release some balloons in his honor.

If a "parolee" offends during his parole period his parole officer should have to finish the sentence along with the offender! May the perp rot in hell!
