PORTLAND, Ore. – Police said a man crashed his car into a power pole Monday night and fled his car, leaving a 12-year-old girl in the passenger seat.

The crash happened just before 7:30 p.m. in the 10300 block of Northeast Prescott Street.

The girl did not have any injuries but was taken to a hospital as a precaution, police said. The girl is the daughter of the man's friend.

Police found 43-year-old Arnell Wendell Brown at Northeast 103rd Avenue and Tillamook Street. They arrested him and took him to the Multnomah County Jail on several charges.

Police said they originally tried to stop Brown near Southeast 102nd and Stark on traffic charges but they said he took off.
