CLACKAMAS, Ore. – Police cited a West Linn man accused of falling asleep at the wheel and crashing into a motorcyclist on Interstate 205 early Wednesday morning.

Christopher Pearson, 49, was driving northbound on I-205 near Clackamas at around 5:15 a.m. when he dozed off and his Jeep drifted into a guardrail, according to police. The collision woke him up, and he lost control of the Jeep as it veered into the center lane and hit a motorcycle driven by 63-year-old Bruce Becker.

Medics took Becker to a hospital with serious injuries.

Pearson was not hurt in the crash. Police cited him for careless driving.

Oregon State Police remind drivers to find a safe place to pull over and take a break if you feel yourself getting tired while driving.
