SALEM, Ore. – Salem police found a man shot to death inside his car in a ditch Saturday morning after they responded to reports of gunshots nearby.

It happened in the area of Fairway Avenue and Reese Hill Road Southeast at around 3 a.m., according to Lt. Dave Okada.

The victim was identified as 32-year-old Andrew Entizne. An autopsy by the state medical examiner's office concluded Entizne died of a gunshot wound.

Neighbors told KATU News they heard five gunshots.

"I would say this is a really quiet neighborhood," said neighbor Mark Wade. "Anything like that would kind of surprise me. Seems like a retirement community. My wife and I walk around here all the time, never seen anything suspicious."

Detectives said they suspect the incident was gang-related. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Detective Vasas at (503) 588-6123.

From the Family

The victim's brother, Fred Entizne, later sent KATU the following family statement, along with a photo of Andrew:

"This is not just another 'gang related' incident. Andrew Entizne was a man that was a brother, uncle, and son that will be terribly missed by his family and friends. His untimely death has fractured hearts that only time can heal."
