Man rescued from path of train

Firefighters and police in Portland worked together to move a car that ended up on the railroad tracks.

It happened around 8:15 Tuesday night.

Fire Bureau Spokesman Lt. Rich Chatman said that a car went over an embankment by 27 and Lombard in North Portland and ended up on the tracks.

The driver – a man, approximately 45-years-old – was pinned in as a result of the crash.

To make matters worse, a train was coming.

Unable to guarantee that the train could be stopped, the firefighters and officers lifted the car and moved it off the tracks. They then freed the man.

He was transported to Legacy Emanuel with non-life-threatening injuries.
