Man seriously hurt in Estacada stabbing; suspect arrested

ESTACADA, Ore. -- One man is fighting for his life at a Portland hospital after a late-night stabbing in Estacada.

Clackamas County sheriff's deputies arrested Joshua Black after the attack on Southwest Broadway Street and Third Avenue Sunday night.

Paramedics flew the victim, Travis Pearch, to Oregon Health and Sciences University Hospital, where he is in critical condition.

Investigators believe it started as a disturbance between Black, Pearch and possibly others. Black ran off, but sheriff's deputies caught up with him. Sandy police told KATU Black claimed he'd attacked Pearch in self-defense. Black faces assault charges.
