Man shot on I-5 overpass in Woodburn, police say
WOODBURN, Ore. – Police said one man was shot on the Interstate 5 overpass in Woodburn Saturday night.
Officers responded to the busy overpass at 7 p.m. Lejeune Bryant had multiple gunshot wounds, but police said his injuries were not life-threatening.
“I heard three really quick gunshots,” said D.J. Cowdrey, who works at a nearby restaurant. “Ten seconds later there was a really big blast, like a shotgun. So I came running back in the building. Customers were coming in that had laid down in the parking lot when it happened.”
Police said the shooter, Ethan Carey, was detained and taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
No arrests have been made at this time. It's unclear what caused the altercation between Carey and Bryant.
The overpass, located near the Woodburn Company Stores, was closed for several hours while police investigated the shooting.
“That’s why the customers were so scared. Because the outlet mall is right there,” said Cowdrey. “They had just left the outlet mall. Everybody assumed it was there.”
They ask anyone who saw the incident to call Detective Aaron Devoe at 503-982-2345.
KATU's Dan Cassuto contributed to this story.
Why wait until the police come to investigate an accident, just shoot them and justice will be served.

@Dr. Rawdog Keeps me safe. I don't care what happens to you. I'm of the opinion that if I ever see somebody wearing a peace symbol or a tie-dye getting robbed or attacked, I'm going to yell at them to call the police instead of helping them.We will not have a polite society until people like you learn to assume your natural submissive position. You don't have what it takes to put me there.
heard through someone who knows the victim. It was a fender bender, they pulled off the road to exchange info then decided to move off the overpass first. They got back in their cars and the victim thought he was in reverse and bumped into the shooter's car again and then the shooter opened fire.
Sounds like each had a gun fair fight
No arrests were made? Come on KATU, do your job, report.
Probably trying to figure out the real names of those involved?
Still waiting for the "Why".

@Caspertoo Woodburn is becoming like Portland, except down here it doesn't happen daily, just yearly.  Plus Woodburn is more white than hispanic.  I moved here to get away from the Portland trash.
@RandyH Woodburn is more white than Hispanic? You must keep to a VERY small portion of Woodburn.
@RandyH  @Caspertoo Boy you sure got that one backwards. Hope you didn't get a yearly lease. Si Si Puede!
It's woodburn. Enough said.
@randomdude Woodburn is a nice place to live after living in Portland for 60 years, no real trash here, plus if your hispanic you mostly are farm worker, in Portland there gang members.  In Portland crime is a way of life, down here its not tolerated.  Little or no graffiti, no loud cars, clean, streets repaired, money in the budget, lots of police.  To bad Portland has turned into trash.
@RandyH *you're
@RandyH Loud cars? Really? Go watch Murder She Wrote on your plastic covered couch while writing checks for 12 dollars...
Woodburn if full of Mexican gangs and drug dealing. Go down to the post office, you'll se a Hispanic dude on each corner watching for police, when they see one they whistle to sound the alert. I drive a Dark Blue Charger, when I drive downtown Woodburn it sounds like Swallows at Capistrano
You are not living in Woodburn, unless you live in an insulated box with no outside contact!! The woodburn PD won't even try to keep the drug deals from going down all over town - I know, I lived in Woodburn for 13 years! Everyone knew that a few blocks down our street, druggies made contact with suppliers nightly, and the PD did NOTHING about it! A friend who also lived in town at that time said that they were told by a state trooper that if they saw suspicious activity in the neighborhood to call the Interagency Task Force, not the Woodburn PD!! And that comment was during a raid on their neighbor's house which they were dealing out of - my friend said that they would see a little child go out to a car that just drove up in broad daylight, and han
d them a bag through the window, then run back into the house with a handful of cash!
Waiting for the "Why".

@Tom dogboy Collins  I'm leaning toward the idea that there was a woman involved . . . . a real shady character, I'm sure.

Still waiting for "Why".
You do know that he was being sarcaustic, right?
@Common Sence @S_O_P_A LOL Ford Expeditions can spontaneously combust.........Does that count?
@S_O_P_A    That has to be some of the dumbest crap I've ever heard.  Ive never seen a gun BY ITSELF kill someone.  And I've never seen an SUV by itself crash.  your ignorance it epic.
@Gravity Works!  @Tom dogboy Collins  Come now, Gravity and Tom! Comrade Mechanic has provided the answer. The mere existence of guns causes the bearer to commit crimes. Much like SUVs are often the cause of accidents, so to are guns typically to blame for violence.
@Tom dogboy Collins Too many guns available to the wrong people..
@Mechanic  If they'd have just had axes and machetes none of this would have happened.Tonya Harding used a baseball bat. Ban 'em.
