Man shot, robbed of backpack near Gresham park
GRESHAM, Ore. (AP) - A man says he was shot by a robber who took his backpack Tuesday night in Gresham.
The victim was able to walk into the Mt. Hood Medical Center emergency room with a bullet wound in his shoulder.
The 30-year-old Happy Valley man, identified as Jorge Hidalgo, 30, says he was robbed and shot while walking by North Gresham Park on SE 217th Avenue at about 10 p.m.
Hidalgo told police the suspect demanded his backpack and wallet, and while he was removing his backpack, the suspect shot him in the shoulder.
Police say detectives are investigating and have yet to determine whether or not the shooting was completely random.
The suspect was described by Hidalgo to police as a male, possibly a young Hispanic, wearing all dark clothing.
Anyone with any information about the shooting or the suspect is encouraged to call the Gresham Police Tip Line at 503-618-2719 or 1-888-989-3505.

So lets see here he lives in Happy Valley but at 10:30PM he is in a north Gresham park. Hmm 30 yrs. old, backpack, wanna bet drugs and he just might have been there to meet someone and complete the deal but alas it ended as he had not planned.
That settles it. We need to do something NOW to protect our children.

BAN DARK CLOTHING!!!!!
His whole story seems pretty sketchy. He was able to walk from 217th to MHMC at 248th with a bullet wound in his shoulder? Okey dokey then...
 @thewhitechickoj If I were shot I'd be knocking at the first house asking them to call 911.
Why was he at that park? Most perople don't know it is there. He lives in Happy Valley. It is a dark park next to a school with lots of tall timber. What was in his backpack?
 @my2cents There are no answers to your questions that result in it being ok to shoot and rob somebody.
Musta been a nice backpack.
handgun- I never leave home without it
Gresham needs to beef up patrols, like yesterday. Portland could use it too.. It's unfortunate that people like this ruin it for everyone else. I'm seeing more and more headlines like this. People wonder why I stay home all the time, well... here you go. Maybe I should carry a gun. If the police aren't doing much to crack down on this, you have to do what you have to do to protect yourself in this city anymore.
 @PDXBEAR I carry a gun on occasion but I still wouldn't be afraid to walk through Gresham or Portland. It's not as bad as the media makes it sound.
In Gresham? Â Really? Â i'm so surprised.
An illegal causing crime. Â These are the people obama wants in the country.
 @sortbait Yes, crime is illegal.
Â
If you're talking about illegal immigrants then I must have missed that part of the story.
 @sortbait rednecks of Oregon represent
 @sortbait Did you read the story at all? LOL
I hope they catch the coward responsible. I wish the victim a speedy recovery.
Another "responsible" gun owner is on the loose. Better watch out!
@correct  trolling, trolling, trolling,,,,,,,keep the bs rolling,,
 @oodathunked LOL! I second that! WTG! :)
 @oodathunkedÂ
Good one.
 @correct Once again, you're showing a serious inability to distinguish between responsible and irresponsible behavior. As a gun owner, I can tell you that this was a crime and it was irresponsible. I should also point out that people like who can't tell the difference are the ones who should have their 2nd Amendment taken from them.
 @correct Oh shut up.  How is a gangbanger a "responsible gun owner?"
 @EdgarDerby I must have missed the part of the story about gang affiliation.
 @EdgarDerby  @correct Guys like Correct are the problem, and, if there's an argument for keeping guns out of the hands of sociopaths who don't know good from bad, he's the poster girl.
 @correctÂ
You really need to change your name to INcorrect which would be way more accurate.
You know, if you dont respond to the trolls, they go away. Like any child, they know that negative attention is better than no attention. Let them live with no attention, its better for us all.
Â
 @RalphCramden  @correct And that check mark needs to be a big fat X.
 @correct You should look up the word responsible in the Dictionary.
@correct Sounds more like someone who's not allowed to have a gun, you know, the actual criminals that YOU have no control over, so you try to take away the law abiding citizens rights just so you can feel you accomplished something.....
 @STEELHEAD  @correct Your talking to a wall with Mr correct so I would not waste your breath on facts or logic with a big lets punish everyone for the actions of a few person.
