Man stabbed in the back in at Waterfront Park

PORTLAND, Ore. - A man was stabbed in downtown Portland Thursday evening.

The crime happened at Waterfront Park, just north of Northwest Couch Street.

According to police, the victim had a non-life threatening stab wound to his back and was not very cooperative with officers. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The man was later identified as 28-year-old Richard Michael Dale, a transient.

Police did recover a knife and are looking for the suspect, who is described as:

  • White male in his early 20s
  • 5 feet, 4 inches to 5 feet, 6 inches tall
  • Weighs around 130 to 150 pounds
  • Short buzz cut
  • Possibly homeless
  • Was wearing gold pants and had a blue backpack
