Man stabbed during fight outside Ore. Planned Parenthood office

GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) - Police say a man was stabbed Tuesday during a violent confrontation with an abortion protester outside a Planned Parenthood health center in Grants Pass.
Officials said Ted Clair was stabbed seven times in the abdomen and neck during a fight with Christopher Tolhurst, who had signs denouncing abortion and Planned Parenthood.
Witnesses said that earlier in the day, Clair's 22-year-old daughter, Kailah Clair, argued with Tolhurst and kicked over his protest signs.
She returned later with her father, who confronted Tolhurst.
Witnesses reported Ted Clair pushed Tolhurst to the ground and punched him and then Tolhurst stabbed Clair.
Grants Pass police said no arrests have been made.
Ted Clair was hospitalized with serious injuries. Tolhurst was treated for facial swelling and bruising. Kailah Clair was treated for hand cuts and an arm bruise.

stupid friggin people. when are they going to stop hurting and killing each other.i just cant stand all this violence anymore. people are suppose to be kind and caring.
Peaceful religious types
 @EnoughAlready Yeah, the people who were AGAINST the protesting instigated the violence completely:
"and kicked over his protest signs."
"Ted Clair pushed Tolhurst to the ground and punched him"
Â
Â
 @ab  @EnoughAlready Anyone who pushes a woman to the ground for ANY reason should expect to get punched in the face.
Can you feel the love yet ???
No doubt a christian terrorist.
Sounds like the daughter should have had her butt kicked. Â I have absolutely no complaint with abortions, as long as they are not being used for birth control, Â with one exception. Â When you have so many losers with several kids drawing all kinds of taxpayer supported aid such as welfare, food stamps, etc., some form of birth control should be mandatory for these leaches. Â Abortion first, followed by sterilization would be doing all of society a big favor.
 @boomer There was a certain Austrian that had that very same opinion.
History does tend to repeat itself, especially when it involves violence
Abort all three of them.
Another example of religion and what it does to people.
@darren vandervort
Yeah, the people who were AGAINST the protesting instigated the violence completely:
"and kicked over his protest signs."
"Ted Clair pushed Tolhurst to the ground and punched him"
Â
And yet this 'peaceful' christian protester had a knife on his person......wonder what he was going to do whith that....?
 @darren vandervort Drives them to throw a tantrum, kick over protest signs, and then leave and return with their violent father(s) to engage in a fistfight, culminating in a stabbing?!Is that what you meant?
All life is sacred, just some more than others.
Â
New definition to "late term" abortion.
Here's my litmus test on abortion: Can you get pregnant? No? Then SHUT THE HELL UP! I can agree that a man might (might) have some right to an opinion on abortion, if it's his child at issue, but other than that, no. My opinion - as a man - is no more relevant to the issue of abortion, than a woman's would be on the subject of whether a man should get a circumcision or not.
Now, if you want to have a religious belief that life begins at conception - you absolutely have that right. However you have NO RIGHT to try to make your religious beliefs public policy. I may personally be of the belief that you need a license to have a child, and that you should be denied a childbearing license, unless both parents have an I.O of three digits - doesn't mean I get to go around sterilizing all the dumb folks! Something - by the way - for which some of you should clearly be grateful.
@Mick Wagner Just for the sake of argument, let's say those of us who are against abortion because of our religious beliefs are right - life DOES begin at conception and abortion IS murder. Shouldn't what's good and true and right be the law of the land?
@theprodigal I think you should go a step further and claim that life begins at ejaculation.In all seriousness we are a nation of laws and the job of the SCOTUS is to set law when it comes to the reproductive rights of the mother.
 @theprodigal  @Mick What you think is "good and true and right" is good and true and right only based on your opinion. It is not "good and true and right" that YOUR opinion should dictate the "law of the land".
 @dwellcome  @felines99  @theprodigal  @Mick I think you better check your bible, a fetus does not have a soul. Exodus 21:22
@MamaBear @felines99 @dwellcome @theprodigal @Mick It's the ending of a pregnancy.
@dwellcome @felines99 @theprodigal @Mick Killing a human child is illegal terminating a pregnancy is legal.
 @MamaBear  @theprodigal  @Mick Yes, since mine reflects the view of medical science on the subject (i.e., that a fetus is not viable).
 @MamaBear  @felines99  @dwellcome  @theprodigal  @Mick An embryo, then (after 8 weeks) a fetus.
 @dwellcome  @felines99  @theprodigal  @Mick Well there are hardly too few humans on this plane so I'd rather go with the eagle eggs as opposed to another unwanted mouth to feed. It is not a child either, it is an embryo. You are probably one of those idiots who get their daily intake from AM radio.
 @felines99  @theprodigal  @Mick Should YOURS??
 @felines99  @dwellcome  @theprodigal  @Mick What is it then?
 @dwellcome  @theprodigal  @Mick The only thing which is "absolute crap" is your claim that abortion is murder.
 @felines99  @theprodigal  @MickÂ
Absolute crap. If you damage an eagles egg, you go to prison... but yet killing a human child is legal...
Yeah, makes sense
This young woman sure created a mess.. But I think it's time to pass laws to keep protesters at least 1000 feet from planned parenthood buildings and clinics and all abortion clinics.. I used to take Cornell Rd. to work and see those protesters graphic pictures on Lovejoy, it really disgusted me that anyone would show that in public.. It made me sad for the woman who may have had to walk by that on the way to abort a fetus, it's disturbing enough for the girl, let's not rub salt in the wound..
 @dougrpdx Limits placed there can be used to stifle your free speech in other cases as well.  Sure you want to set the precedent?  Slippery slope there. Â
Wow... Such hate.. Let's move these protests2000 feet from the buildings.. Thanks for playing losers !

@QuandoQuandoQuando@dougrpdx
Yeah, the people who were AGAINST the protesting instigated the violence completely:
SHE: "and kicked over his protest signs."
HER FATHER "Ted Clair pushed Tolhurst to the ground and punched him"
Yeah, blame the girl and the father because THEY STARTED IT. Â Get a clue!
Â
 @QuandoQuandoQuando Until you can get a pig pregnant then talk to me... I bet you will be talking to me..
 @QuandoQuandoQuando  @dougrpdx Free speech. I would die to defend yours, you tell others to shut up...
 @MamaBear  @QuandoQuandoQuando  @dougrpdx Surely telling others to shut up is included under free speech?
 @dougrpdx There's almost always at least 1 guy there.
Â
Where does it say she was going there for an abortion??
Hope the 22 year old daughter is happy with the fact that she is responsible for instigating the events that led to her dad being stabbed. Whether or not you are for or against abortion (I am pro-life), this man had a right to protest and she should have kept out of it. Sounds like she needs some anger management...
 @applepie Pro life eh? Do you think the same when it comes to the death penalty or is it only concerning embryos? Pro life is one of the misused words of all time in this country, the same people who are calling themselves pro life have no problems when the US goes to war or when innocent people are executed. There no bigger hypocrites than the right wing christians, they have more in common withe the talibans than other civilized people.
@terre08 Actually I am. I do NOT support the death penalty for a number of reasons. Re: wars...I hate war but realize that sometimes they are necessary (much less often than most politicians seem to think though). Oh and since you brought it up--I am a conservative (right wing), a Christian, quite civilized and have almost nothing in common with the Taliban.
Â
 @applepie Again, blaming the girl, not the stupid idiot who did the stabbing. If it was her fault, why wasn't she arrested?
 @QuandoQuandoQuando  @applepie He only "did" the stabbing AFTER he was attacked by her father.
if he was htere for a peaceful protest why did he feel the need to be carrying an illegaly concealed weapon?
@QuandoQuandoQuando
Per article: man exercising his Constitutional rights. 22 year old argues with him, kicks over his signs then returns with her father at a later time who confronts protestor, pushes him to ground and assaults him. Yes, I am blaming the girl for instigating it as she could have chosen to walk away and not engage Tolhurst.
By the way, I didn't say whether I agree with the stabbing. I wasn't there---but Tolhurst was the first 'victim' here---not the 22 year old or her father.
Octodome! Octodome!
Â
Why is some creepy guy in a Bill Cosby sweater all up in women's business? He should be willing to take a couple punches for his cause without trying to filet a guy.
I am a Constitutionalist first a flaming liberal who supports a women's right to choose.I take the freedom of speech,expression seriously as long as government is not endorsing religon.I do think the courts have established a fair balance allowing protests at the same time not allowing the protesters to block a planned parent facility or completely disturb the funerals of our fallen soldiers.I understand emotions were running high and I don't have any doubt that Mr.Tolhurst said some extremely inflammatory words but so does WBC.I think physically attacking someone who is expressing their First Ammendment rights isn't right.Iv'e seen plenty of counter protests when it comes to Planned Parenthood,abortion clinics and the WBC.IMHO that is the only recourse that should be implemented.We are supposed to be a civil society where disagreements shouldn't be resolved by using violence.Of course I wasn't there so I don't exactly what transpired but if Mr.Tolhurst was attacked first IMO he had the right to protect himself.I'm going to assume that is why no arrests were made.
The real message here is: "Don't take a fist to a knife fight!" Or, if you push and punch somebody, just MAYBE they will fight back and you might get the worst of it. Or, what the hell were you thinking?

What a clown comment.....hey bright one, where did it say he got arrested?? Â Oh, and the right wing are soooo tolerant....

Start reading.....and then get back to me. Â Â
 @PD1202 Funny that's the same argument people use to label all Muslisms as terrorists. The fact is there are violent and extreme people in almost everything political persuasion.
 @archon312 Who got arrested for assault?
Â
"Libs", by the way, is the hallmark of talk radio programming. You get that crap from people like Lars Larson. The opposite of a lib is a con. The opposite of libs is cons. It's all just knee-jerk regurgitation of talk radio moronica.
Â
Who got arrested for assault? Facts don't seem to play much of a part in your political thought process, do they?
@archon312 Nowhere has it been verified that the perp was a leftist or a liberal. This was not a counter protest, it was one dumb dad and his equally dumb daughter.
"Grants Pass police said no arrests have been made." I think that kind of does away with the "See how the libs are so tolerant that they get arrested for assault?" part.
