Man who drove truck into slough found and arrested, deputies say

WOODLAND, Wash. – The man who drove his truck into a slough in Woodland on Friday is alive but in jail, police said Saturday.

Cowlitz County sheriff’s deputies said they found German Sabian-Pacheco of Astoria at his sister’s house Saturday morning after diver’s spent much of Friday searching for him.

When the search resumed Saturday morning, deputies said, Sabian-Pacheco’s brother came to the scene and told them his brother had walked to his sister’s home two or three miles away.

When deputies found Sabian-Pacheco unhurt at the home, he told them he had swam to shore after the accident.

Deputies arrested him for two outstanding misdemeanor warrants –driving under the influence and second-degree driving with a suspended license – and charged him with driving without an interlock, first-degree driving with a suspended license and hit and run.
