ODELL, Ore. – A massive fire burned a large number of empty fruit bins at Diamond Fruit Growers Monday night.
According to Tiffany Peterson of the Odell Fire Department, the call came in just after 8 p.m. and the fire was brought under control a little over an hour later.
At least 10 fire trucks and 40 firefighters battled the 2-alarm blaze, Peterson said.
She said each bin was about four feet wide, about three feet deep and about three feet tall.
The bins were outside and no buildings were damaged.
"You could just feel the warmth, you could feel the heat and just everything was obviously bright," Stephanie Villalobos told KATU News. "It was really different to see because we're not used to seeing something like that in Odell."
No one was injured, Peterson said.
The town of Odell is south of Hood River.
