Military jet flyovers in Clackamas County startle residents

OREGON CITY, Ore. -- They came in loud and fast Friday afternoon – so low that some residents in Clackamas County feared there was going to be a crash.

Several KATU viewers emailed and contacted the station through social media concerned about what was happening. But according to the Port of Portland, the flyovers were planned.

According to the port, four U.S. Marine Corps AV-8B Harriers flew over a memorial service at Mountain View Cemetery in Oregon City. The port said the flyovers were scheduled between 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
