PORTLAND, Ore. - Long-time Portland-area residents might remember the North Mississippi area differently, but this weekend the neighborhood got a chance to show what a trendy turn it has taken.
High crime used to keep people away from the area but now it's one of the city's hot spots and on Saturday, thousands of people showed up for the Mississippi Avenue Street Fair.
For first-timers, the size of the crowd was a surprise.
"When I looked down the street and I saw how far this goes and the crowd of people, I was a little overwhelmed," said Priscilla Gibbens.
