ALOHA, Ore. – At least two people was taken to the hospital on Wednesday morning after a house fire in Aloha.
Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue said the fire started around 3 a.m. at the house on S.W. 214th Pl.
People who were in the house said a mother and her son suffered serious smoke inhalation. They said they were playing video games in the house when the fire broke out, and that they tried to put it out with a fire extinguisher to no avail.
Firefighters said they arrived to find "heavy fire conditions" at the house. They found the woman on the second floor, and sent her to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Her son, an adult, escaped the house on his own but also was sent to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after attempts to treat him at the scene.
Firefighters said it took about 10 minutes to knock down the fire. Crews are still working to determine what caused it.
Some of the other people in the house said there were six total in the house at the time of the fire.
