GLADSTONE, Ore. -- New details have emerged in the death of a 5-month-old baby.
Police say the mother of the boy reported that her son had been murdered at the Budget Motel in Gladstone and the baby's body was dumped in an unidentified park in Clackamas County.
The mother gave details to investigators that led them to the wooded area where the baby was found at 2 a.m. Tuesday, according to a news release from the Gladstone Police Department.
Police declined to reveal the exact location where the baby's body was found, citing the active investigation.
Initial reports on Tuesday from witnesses indicated the baby was found in a dumpster. Police, however, later said that was not the case.
Investigators believe the baby was taken to the wooded area on Saturday sometime between 12:15 p.m. and 1:40 p.m. in a blue Chevrolet Blazer with Oregon plates.
Police have recovered the Chevrolet Blazer in Salem, but said they don't have a suspect yet in the case.
"The mother of the baby remains cooperative with the investigation and is not considered a suspect," the news release said.
The cause of death has been undetermined.
Anyone with information should call Gladstone Police Detective Kevin Voss at 503-557-2762.
