Motorcycle rider killed after high-speed crash on I-5 near Salem

SALEM, Ore. – A motorcycle rider died after a high-speed crash on northbound I-5 near Salem, police said.

Oregon State Police said 53-year-old David Leary Schneller of Tualatin was riding between 90 and 95 mph on his 2009 Harley Davidson when he lost control while passing some cars. He was thrown from the Harley as it crashed in the center lane.

The trooper performed CPR until paramedics arrived and pronounced Schneller dead.

Two lanes of I-5 were closed for about five hours during the investigation.
