TILLAMOOK, Ore. – State police are asking for help finding a driver in a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a motorcyclist on Sunday afternoon.

Police said a line of seven or eight vehicles had stopped behind an SUV waiting to turn off Highway 6 into the Footbridge Trailhead lot about 20 miles east of Tillamook. Motorcyclist Grant Timperly, 32, of Vancouver, was slowing down to stop behind a car in line when he was hit from behind by an unknown vehicle.

The crash pushed the motorcycle about 50 feet forward until it hit the back of a Toyota Camry. Timperly was seriously injured. Medics took him to a Portland hospital. Police said he was wearing a helmet.

The driver of the Camry was not hurt.

The suspect vehicle was last seen heading east from the crash scene. Witnesses were unable to give police a description of the vehicle, but said it may have been towing a trailer. Police said it should have front-end damage.

Anyone with information about the vehicle is asked to call state police at 800-452-7888.
