New charges for woman accused of theft, prostitution

A woman in custody on charges she stole purses from two women has been indicted on dozens more charges.

Tiffany Denise Smith, 43, of Southeast Portland, had been arrested in January for allegedly knocking an 89-year-old woman to the ground and stealing her purse. While police investigated that crime, they linked her to a similar robbery the previous December.

She was also charged with prostitution in Clackamas County last year after being allegedly caught in a sex act with an Oregon State Trooper. The trooper has since resigned and pleaded guilty.

The new indictment, which was handed up earlier this month, charges her with 58 counts including charges of identity theft, robbery, assault and burglary.
