ODOT bridge repairs to affect weekend traffic
The Steel Bridge.

PORTLAND, Ore. – Oregon Department of Transportation will be closing the Steel Bridge this weekend so the Union Pacific Railroad can adjust counterweights.

The bridge will be closed to all traffic on Sunday, Dec. 15 at 12:01 a.m. until 5 a.m.

ODOT said the bridge will be up during the closure.

ODOT is also preparing drivers for multiple daytime lifts on the Interstate Bridge on Monday, Dec. 16

The lifts will affect southbound traffic as ODOT crews install a new roller that broke on Nov. 22. The bridge lift has been operating at half its usual speed since the roller broke.

ODOT expects to lift the bridge three times between 9 a.m. and 2:20 p.m., and each lift could take up to 20 minutes. The lifts will not affect northbound traffic.
