PORTLAND, Ore. -- Drivers on I-5 will have to avoid part of the freeway late at night this weekend.
The Oregon Department of Transportation will shut down all of the northbound lanes between the Fremont and Marquam Bridges at night this weekend so it can inspect the Burnside Bridge to see if it needs any repairs.
ODOT crews will also close down a southbound lane and several ramps.
Those closures begin on Friday, Jan 3. Crews will close the area from 10:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday night.
On Sunday, workers will close that section one last time at 10:30 p.m. and plan to have it open by 5 a.m. for the Monday morning commute.
Traffic on the Burnside Bridge will not be affected.
