ODOT issues traffic advisory for holiday weekend

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The state Department of Transportation has issued a traffic advisory for the four-day Thanksgiving weekend because of wet roads and the chance for snow and ice in the mountain passes.
Spokesman Don Hamilton says motorists should remember to keep some extra room between their vehicle and the one in front of them because wet roads mean more stopping distance.
In other traffic issues this weekend, some areas still have standing water from Monday's storm and Interstate 5 might be clogged Saturday because of the Civil War football game in Corvallis.
The agency also urges motorists to not drink and drive.
This just in.
It might rain this weekend.
Three soldiers, Bob, Tim and Dave are in a foxhole. It's a long boring night.
Bob turns to Tim and says, "Where are you from?"
Tim replies, "I'm from Alaska."
Bob says, "I hear it's really cold up there."
Tim replies, "Yeah, but it's a dry cold."
Â
Tim turns to Dave and says, "How 'bout you, where you from?"
Dave replies, "I'm from Arizona."
Tim says, "I hear it's really hot down there."
Dave replies, "Yeah, but it's a dry heat."
Â
Dave asks Bob, "And where are you from?"
Bob replies, "I'm from Oregon."
Dave says, "I hear it rains a whole lot there."
Bob replies, "Yeah, but it's a dry rain."

"Traffic plows through high water as it merges onto Interstate 5 in Portland, Ore., Monday, Nov. 19, 2012"
Â
That may be all well and good, but the problem is, once the water is gone, nothing will be done to prevent if from happening again.
Â
Reporter: "So why aren't you out there ensuring that part of the freeway can drain?"
Highway Boss: "Water's too deep right now!"
Reporter: "Well, why not fix it when it's dry?"
Highway Boss: "T'ain't a problem then!"
But, but, but I drive an SUV with AWD and Traction Control and I know how to drive while talking on my cell, watching my GPS and listening to the movie the kids are watching!! What do you know about driving these days anyway???
