Police investigate shots fired near Portland convenience store
PORTLAND, Ore. – Police are looking for a man who they said fired several shots outside a North Portland convenience store Saturday night.
It happened at the Lucky Mart, located at 5287 North Lombard Street, at around 8:45 p.m., police said.
The store clerk told officers that earlier Saturday he confronted a young black woman who he said had previously shoplifted from the store. The woman began throwing things around the store and knocked over a TV that landed on the clerk’s infant son.
The boy was not hurt, police said. The woman left the store.
Later, the clerk said a black man came to the store claiming to be the woman’s brother. The two got into a physical confrontation, according to police, and the man fired several shots into the air after leaving the store.
Police did not find the suspect or any damage from the gunfire. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call 503-823-0400.
just another gun owner expressing his 2nd amendment rights,god bless the second amendment now even i can shoot my gun in a convenience store yeah!lets all go outside and shoot stuff,thats what they are for right?
@David Janssen actually, the shooter was just following VP Joe Biden's advice -- which the NRA has condemned, by the way.
how bout dem gas prices?   dont like it?  dont drive!
Why are they looking for them?
He didn't commit a crime- he was just obeying what Biden said to do.. Right? Â
DOPE!Â
@cwpholder You can make fun of what Joe Biden said all you like......it's really not much different than what my husband told me to do.  If you've seen his home, it's out in the country....just like mine.  His is next to a river or lake (not sure), mine isn't, but it's next to a 300' canyon.  I'd have no qualms at all firing a shotgun into the distance to scare someone off.  "Distance" for me is at least 2 acres from the nearest house......and before you say "he and his wife have Secret Service protection", they won't always have that.  But go ahead and make fun of him....at least ONE side is making an effort to move away from the status quo.
@Sundowner@cwpholder
"what my husband told me to do. "
LOL!
"I'd have no qualms at all firing a shotgun into the distance to scare someone off."
My family has done it. We live in the country. Great. the vast majority of citizens in America don't have that option. Maybe you're not familiar with apartments or municipal gun laws either.
@Playanekes @Sundowner @cwpholder Out here in the wild wild southeast it would be a crime to fire a gun to scare off the gun toting gang members.
@Sundowner What happens if firing the shotgun outside doesn't work?
(Realistically, we might as well be talking about personal nukes and miniguns...it's absurdly unusual that a shotgun isn't the perfect weapon for a home, but, what right does Ginny Burdick or anybody have to decide for you?)
@Sundowner @Playanekes I grew up 20 minutes from police response too. That's great. We can (and did) "hunt gophers" when the kids at the end of the road used the NO LITTERING sign to build a bonfire in the street. We knew they had a police scanner because so did we, and every time the County would dispatch out there, they'd all peel out and when the cops showed up there's be one guy out there getting stoned looking at the view with no idea what was going on.
So we gopher-hunted at midnight. Biden's advice works if you live in the country, but, telling a reporter to do is most likely encouraging her to go out and commit a crime.
@Playanekes BTW, I don't "LOL" about my husband or anyone else advising me about how to keep myself safe when I'm alone in the middle of no where, 8 miles from a highway.  I don't find it humorous as you did, but then that's just me.
@Playanekes Guess you missed the part where I was talking about what Joe Biden said, talking about where he lives.  I'm aware that there are apartments and that there are municipal gun laws.  Now if you want to swallow a little of your sarcasm and discuss it, great.  Otherwise, I'm not interested.  As for where I live, you literally have no clue the property I live on nor the area I live in.  So yes, that's something my husband has said to me.
@Sundowner@cwpholderLuckily there wasn't an assault rifle involved or you would have much more to say. Just saying...
@Sundowner @Playanekes Well, that's good to hear. What do you think of the kind of politicians who keep trying to do things that they know won't pass?
@Playanekes What do I think of HB3200?  I don't think it's going to pass.
@Sundowner @Mr. Carbon Footprint Thank you.
So what's your opinion of HB3200, then?Â
It bans pistols with a folding stock. As if the STOCK is the end of the weapon people need to worry about. It makes you a felon for owning one.
@Mr. Carbon Footprint How do you figure I'd have more to say?  I'm well-aware of what ISN'T an assault rifle.  Wrong tree you're barking up -- I have no desire to ban ownership of any weapons that aren't already 'banned'.  Try again.
A one person flash mob
Just another day in Portland, it really isn't news, must be a slow weekend.
Just outlaw the sale of guns to people with the name of LaDontae or Tyrone. Â There...problem solved.
:-)  i think its time to divde the country into 3 countries.  respectively of course, its a good thot.  one part would inhabit the negroez, another whites with less than 100 iq's and the thurd would be for the rest of us.  have fun spelling/grammar cops!Â
Is there no description of the suspects? No video footage or still shots from the video? I am willing to guess, but I don't want to hear people crying, "RAAAAACISSSSTTTTT" so I won't.
@AmiM Can you read?
Why yes, I can. Evidently I am a selective reader, however. Thanks. :)
@AmiM Apparently!
I guess this guy did not get the Obama instructions yet to turn in his guns and meditate?
Maybe the brother brother came back to get the tv
Note to urban hipsters and Ginny Burdick:  This is another classic example of how the police only show up AFTER you've been victimized. (If they show up at all.)
Maybe he thought there was a problem and he was just going outside and letting off a couple of blasts from his double-barrel shotgun.
@Playanekes Ah, but don't you know that only works when you already have secret service protection?
@Playanekes One of those bitter clingers.
Or wait... from January 2007... Joe Biden, "
"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy," Biden said. "I mean, that's a storybook, man.""
@AmiM @Playanekes YES!! Thank you for posting this. Awesome!!
He must be one of those rural white-boy rednecks!!
@Playanekes One of my friends sent me a link to an intelligent rebuttal of Biden's stupid remarks. It's funny, but it's true. How did Joe "Xerox" Biden end up where he is? Not a clue.

@AmiMÂ @Playanekes I would LOVE to have seen the expression on his Secret Service's faces when he said that.
I think he should be the first person on the no-gun list for inciting criminal behavior, and I think the Administration should be sued for every instance of criminal negligence involving public discharge of a shotgun.
And if the Republic rises against the political class, I think Joe Biden's secret service ought to be required to carry surplus black powder muskets like the ones the Framers had in mind, or double barrel shotguns. Modern military style assault weapons are only designed to inflict the maximum amount of casualties in the shortest amount of time, and, well, Immigration just bought 7000 of them. That's kinda strange, when tens of thousands of Head Start kids are about to be flushed out of schools.
Talk about misplaced loyalties.
camera footage would help
It's because of trash like these two, instead of eliminating the death penalty, we should lower the requirements for using it.
Sounds like this will be an easy case to solve since they have a high probability of knowing who the suspects are.
@RalphCramden Ah, but will they waste the manpower on a "victimless crime?" Whassamatta? Nobody got hurt, did they??
