TIGARD, Ore. – Police say a semi truck driver fell asleep at the wheel and crashed on the ramp from northbound Interstate 5 to Kruse Way early Wednesday morning.

Police cited Robert Jordaine for careless driving.

The crash happened around 1:30 a.m. Jordaine was not hurt, but the ramp was blocked for nearly six hours.

Oregon Department of Transportation crews had to unload the trailer before the truck could be lifted back onto its wheels.

“This truck was full and our crews spent several hours unloading this truck,” said ODOT spokeswoman Kimberly Dinwiddie.

The truck was heading to a Home Depot, ODOT said. Crews loaded all the materials onto another truck before they could reopen the ramp.

The ramp was open around 7:30 a.m.
