PSU sends text alert as police search for robbery suspect

PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland police dispatchers said officers are looking for an armed suspect near SW 12th and Clay Street in downtown Portland after an attempted armed robbery.

Police did not say where the robbery attempt took place, only that they got a call regarding the crime at about 1:12 p.m.

Portland State University issued a text message alert saying the suspect was a white male, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, medium build, wearing a white hoodie, sunglasses and Vans shoes.

Neither police or PSU described how the person was armed. Police did say that no one was harmed during the robbery attempt.

Shortly after 2 p.m., PSU sent out another text message that said "the suspect has moved away from the PSU campus." No more information was included in the message.

On Monday, Portland police and PSU officials were called to a location near a student dorm near SW 10th and Market after a woman reported she was followed, struck in the head and sexually assaulted.

Police are still looking for a male suspect in that case.
