PORTLAND, Ore - A pedestrian suffered traumatic injuries in an accident on the east side of Portland early Sunday morning. Portland Police say the man is expected to survive.
A man was walking near 122ND and Burnside just after 1:00 a.m. when a 2000 Honda Civic hit him.
Portland Police Sergeant Pete Simpson told KATU News that the driver, a 23-year-old woman, stayed at the scene, was not impaired and was driving within the speed limit. No citations or charges have been issued. The case will now be referred to the Multnomah County District Attorney.
Police don't expect to release the names of the pedestrian and the driver until Monday.
The Portland Police Bureau's Major Crash Team is investigating the accident. East Burnside was closed for a while but has been reopened
