PORTLAND, Ore. – Police are searching for the driver in a hit-and-run crash that injured a pedestrian in North Portland Monday night.
"We just heard like a big bang and immediately two ladies screaming for help," said Jesus Guitierrez, who lives nearby. "Then we saw the traffic coming down too fast so we tried to give the signal to stop."
The crash happened at the intersection of North Columbia Boulevard and Bank Street just after 11 p.m.
Teairra Benjamin, 21, suffered traumatic head injuries in the crash, police said, but is expected to survive.
A witness told police that the suspect vehicle was a small, black SUV. Investigators found what they believed to be the suspect vehicle in a nearby apartment complex.
No arrests have been made.
Anyone with information about the crash or the driver is asked to call police.
