PORTLAND, Ore. – A pedestrian was seriously injured when he was hit by a vehicle on Southeast Division Street early Tuesday morning.

Police said 41-year-old Michael Jeffrey Myers was taken to a hospital with traumatic injuries, but they expect him to survive. Polive believe Myers is homeless, according to Sgt. Pete Simpson.

The crash happened on Division Street at 113th Avenue at 4:20 a.m.

The driver, 48-year-old Danny Lee Harbick, remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police said. He was not impaired. No citations have been issued.

Investigators said Harbick was driving eastbound on Division Street when Myers, who was pushing a shopping cart, stepped off the curb and in front of the moving vehicle.

Police closed traffic on Division at 113th for their investigation. The street was reopened to traffic at 5:50 a.m.
