Pets die in Portland house fire
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Two pets died in a house fire in Northeast Portland.
Lieutenant Michael Silva of Portland Fire & Rescue says crews arrived on the home on NE 112th shortly before noon Saturday and discovered smoke coming from the basement.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, but found a dog and a rabbit overcome by smoke.
They used an animal CPR kit to save the dog, to no avail.
Fire investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire. Damage to the home has been estimated at $60,000.
Very sad news. I hope they didn't suffer.
The loss of any innocent life is never good news.
The firefighters are to be commended for trying to save the dog.
